The ancient Chinese tradition of folding one thousand paper cranes for a wedding is called Tsuru wa sennen. It symbolizes the patience and trust that are necessary in a marriage. A couple that could put the time and energy into folding one thousand cranes for their wedding possess the qualities necessary for a happy marriage, while building their relationship together.

I know from planning my own wedding, that I would never have had the time to fold enough origami items on my own. There are too many other things to coordinate that it tends to be easier to forego the more time consuming tasks, just to focus on the basics! But wouldn't it be lovely to theme the invitations, place cards, centerpieces, cake and ceremony backdrop all with the same object(s) to unify the most wonderful day of your life? A thousand cranes hanging from the ceiling gives an almost surreal effect, which is exactly how your wedding day should feel. It is a magical day!

A wonderful thing about origami is that it can be colored to match any theme, so that you can incorporate your wedding color(s) even more into your theme. They can be bright or subtle, light or dark, whatever paper you choose!

I have collected some of my favorite pictures of unique and beautiful ways to use origami at your special event, as well as thumbnails of the color options available. (See the Gallery and Paper sections of my blog.)

If you would like to use any origami theme at your wedding and you need some help, send me an email! I will supply the folded origami items on the paper of your choice, and the rest is up to you! Use your imagination, the possibilities are endless.

Don't limit yourself to just cranes, there are also flowers of all kinds that I can make! I can fold whatever items that you would like, just email me, let me know your color choices and I will get to work! Since all orders are custom, I will need to know the date of your event so that I can arrange to get everything folded in time. I have lots of people that can help me get your items to you quickly!

The couple in the photo below made the following comments:

"We loved the meaning of folding 1000 cranes for our wedding, both the bringing of good luck and that it is an exercise in all of the things it takes to make a marriage work. Our invitations included instructions for folding origami cranes, an explanation of the meaning of the 1000 cranes, origami paper and return envelopes. It was especially meaningful to have those blessings from those who could not join us."
